Bronze LEAF Accreditation

The GTIMC process development lab has achieved bronze accreditation under the laboratory efficiency assessment framework (LEAF)

Process development team and the bronze LEAF certificate
We are pleased to share that our process development team has achieved bronze accreditation for the lab under the laboratory efficiency assessment framework (LEAF).  LEAF was created by UCL to support users to optimise lab operations, reducing environmental impact while maintaining research quality.  Led by Lucy Beale, the team including Dr Joe Scarrott and Vitastaa Sar reviewed and improved internal processes and networked with suppliers to undertake life cycle assessments of their products.  A full inventory analysis, streamlining stock control to the lab avoiding waste due to exceeding expiry dates and risk of material shortages was undertaken and commended by the assessment team.

Further work aiming to achieve silver status includes an ongoing project with BiologIC Technologies looking at how the team can use the Qudos equipment to reduce the number of bioreactors runs and size of runs providing both high throughput whilst maintaining a controlled system and reduced use of consumables.
