Classical and Medieval Latin

About the modules

Our Latin modules are open to all students (for credits or not), members of staff, and members of the public.

Available on a semester basis (11-12 weeks), the modules aim to develop language competence and cultural knowledge for professional and recreational purposes through small group weekly classes and guided independent learning.

Levels

Classical Latin Beginner

You have no previous experience of learning the language.

• Autumn: LAS158 Classical Latin Beginner 1
• Spring: LAS192 Classical Latin Beginner 2

Classical Latin Intermediate

You have studied the language for one to two years, possibly have (the equivalent of) a good GCSE.

• Autumn: LAS2125 Classical Latin Intermediate 1
• Spring: LAS2117 Classical Latin Intermediate 2

Medieval Latin

Medieval Latin (LAS3131)

You have studied the language for at least two years and have GCSE grade 8-9 / AS level.
